Doing Business As
A "Doing Business As" or DBA, is a formal declaration that an individual, company or organization is conducting business under a different name. DBA's are also commonly referred to as a fictitious business names, assumed business names and trade names. All these terms mean the same thing.
It's legal to do business under your personal name, but when you want to operate under a different one, such as Illustrious Designs, Chic Nails or Merengue Dance Studios, you may need to register that as a DBA name.
